Tennis Balls: Uses, Tips & Tricks

For many years, tennis balls have been gracing televisions and tennis courts across the globe. Over time, tennis balls will wear and tear, forcing players to either discard them or make use of them. In fact, there are numerous uses for recycled tennis balls, some of which you may or may not be aware of.

Keep Bugs Away
If you live in an area that is swarming with flies or other flying insects, grab some of your tennis balls and cover them in Vaseline. Hang the tennis balls in a tree or bush and you should start seeing less and less bug traffic.

Protect Your Floors
If you have floors in your home or business that are not carpeted, whether it is wood or some other texture, it can be scratched by furniture legs. Cut an “x” in the center of a tennis ball and stick the legs of the chair inside. This will prevent the legs from harming your floors, saving you time and money.

Tight Jar Opener
I’m sure we’ve all had a jar that seemed like it was sealed so tight that you just wanted to break it open. Whether it’s a jar of pickles, jam or mayonnaise, try using a tennis ball to get it open. Just cut a tennis ball in half and along its seams, which will leave you with an easy to grip outside layer and rubber inner layer. Just place this strip of tennis felt over a given jar and it will be easier to pop open.

Christmas Ornament
If you’re a tennis fanatic, try using your tennis balls for Christmas tree ornaments. Cut a small slit in the top of the ornament and insert a hanger to keep them afloat. Be even more creative by adding some paint and art designs to the balls.
