The holidays are a time for family, friends, and good food. A time to eat, drink and be merry. The holidays are meant for counting our blessings and thinking about all of the things that we’re thankful for, however, with everything going on during this festive season, one thing that is easily forgotten is your workout routine. Starting in November with Thanksgiving, all the way through Christmas at the end of December, every occasion is celebrated with tables full of delicious food. Whether it’s turkey and stuffing on Thanksgiving, holiday cookies at the office, or hot chocolate on a cold day, there are plenty of opportunities to try out the delicious food of the season. With all of the shopping, holiday parties, get togethers, and time spent cooking, who has time to work out? Then comes the New Year and after a season full of indulging, it’s time to make a resolution to be healthy and get back into your workout routine once again.
Scarborough East Tennis knows how important it is to keep up with your workout routine, and especially your tennis game during this gluttonous time of year! Scarborough makes it easy to stay on top of your workout while also feeling like you are celebrating and in the holiday sprit. “We want to make it easy for our members to keep up with their game all year round,” exclaims Scarborough’s Manager, Bob Hilborn. “When you combine your workout with something fun and holiday related, people are more eager to participate when they feel like they are getting to celebrate at the same time.”
The day after Thanksgiving, Scarborough hosted a Turkey Showdown Tournament for their Grandslam 1, 2 and 3 classes. There have been special Friday night events, the usual weekly clinics, classes and lessons. There will be a Junior Holiday Showdown Tournament taking place on Friday, December 30th. And, even if your workout routine has suffered over the holiday season, Scarborough is giving members a chance to get started on their New Years resolutions early, and start 2012 off right. On December 31st, Scarborough will host a New Years Eve Party. Members can bring food and drinks and bring in the New Year with tennis and volleyball from 8pm-12:30 am!
Scarborough East Tennis feels that there are so many reasons to celebrate during the holiday season. “The holiday’s are such a special time of year,” remarks Hilborn. “We love celebrating this time of year with our members, many of whom have become our friends over the years. We are so thankful for all of them and have loved spending another holiday season with them. We can’t wait to continue playing tennis with everyone in 2012!”
